Bodh Gaya Center is a Kadampa Buddhist meditation center in the heart of Bayside, New York. The center provides meditation classes and teachings in the Queens area.

Taught by qualified Western teachers, the classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practioners, and emphasize how to meditate and practice in our NY urban environment.

Meditation Classes and Workshops

Meditation is a simple yet profound method to improve the quality of our lives. Through following very simple, practical instructions we can learn to let go of the causes of our pain and dissatisfaction and gain the inner peace and clarity we seek.

We offer a wide range of classes from basic introductions to Buddhist meditation, applying Buddha’s teachings to daily life issues such as anger and improving relationships, to comprehensive study programs. Everyone is welcome.

Hello everyone,

As you may know our center has been looking for a new space to offer our meditation classes. A space has been found for our Wednesday night classes.

The church is located 2 1/2 blocks north of. our old center

Class Location: We will be meeting in the basement section of the church which is located on 215th Street, just to the right of the office door.


Drop-in Class:

Wednesday Adult Classes 7:00 – 8:30pm

Understanding the Nature of the Mind, the Self and Reality

In this course Jim will guide us into the most profound areas of Buddha’s teachings and show us to apply these to our daily life. First, we will learn about mindfulness and concentration in regards to the beautiful meditation on the nature of the mind. Then we will apply these skills to investigating the ultimate nature of the self. The wisdom we develop through these teachings will empower us to deal peacefully and skillfully with all the various situations and problems we encounter. In particular it will help us to let go of our painful limiting self-conceptions and enable us to experience an inner ease, flexibility and happiness throughout our daily life. Taking these practices to heart will clearly point the way towards our extraordinary potential for enlightenment.
